I spent four hours last night being occasionally neutrally buoyant, because I float quite well and I float even better when I inhale. The object of the game is not to float, but I can't very well not inhale. I spent a lot of time exhaling a lot of air and bouncing off the bottom of the pool. The instructor said I had made a lot of progress by the end of the four hours, and that I was absolutely right about how I go about getting underwater. His exact words were "Taking your time is exactly what you should do. Don't ever let anybody rush you down." Since I figured that out on my own, I'm sort of proud of it.
Unfortunately, walking to Cleveland Circle and four hours of bouncing off the bottom of the pool followed by walking home for half an hour means that everything from the hips down is sore and everything from the hips up is stiff. Stairs are not my friend today. Walking home was supposed to be 20 minutes, but because I was doing it on a new route in the dark, I got lost two streets from home for ten minutes. I was on the wrong side of Colborne and missed Monastery and ended up wandering around in the back of beyond a little. It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't also been carrying a large duffel bag full of wet towel and snorkeling gear. My new gear bag, which is lighter on account of being mostly made of mesh, is supposed to arrive today.
I think if I order my own wetsuit and boots, I can stop buying gear for a little while. I'd like to own my own regulator setup eventually, but that can wait for a while. There are two kinds; the one I'm learning (yoke) is easy, but the other (DIN) seems to be more popular, though also more complicated.
Come to think of it, I'm probably also sore because on Saturday I had a three and a half hour cleaning fit and then went grocery shopping twice. When I got home the last time, all I could really do was curl up in a ball and whimper for a little while. At least I slept very well on Saturday night. I still need to do a couple of things to the kitchen, and I need to rearrange the pantry a bit so I have an Oil and Honey section, because I seem to have six kinds of honey and five flavors of olive oil which shouldn't all live on the kitchen table.
Lily gets blood drawn tomorrow morning. I bet the T4 number has gone up, because her appetite has increased and she spent a couple of hours this morning (between 5:00 and 7:00, ugh) jumping on and off me, possibly because I failed to provide second dinner last night. I just hope the kidney numbers have gone down too. The input and output don't seem to have changed much, but what do I know?
