Dec. 17th, 2018 09:41 amGot the silly shirts. Got the projectile weapons books. I think I'm done shopping.
Went diving in the new wetsuit last night, and getting into the damn thing is a workout, which I knew it would be. Getting out of it is comparatively easy; it's like taking off panty hose, except all over, and the suit ends up inside out. The only trick is to remember not to take both arms off at once, because you need to be able to use at least one hand. I should just put it on and take it off at least once a day for a while and get good at it, and use muscles I didn't know I had.
I wish it hadn't been both a bustitution weekend and pouring rain last night, because when my neoprene gear is in a mesh bag with a towel and getting rained on, it all gets heavier. By the time I got home I was audibly whimpering because my shoulders hurt and I was wet all over again and I still had to sort out and deal with the wet gear. Which I did, of course. There's no sense in spending a lot of money on gear if you're not going to take care of it. Memo to self: invest in a 15L wet/dry bag. The 20L is too big for what's in it and too small for the wetsuit (but they don't make wet/dry bags big enough for the wetsuit anyway).
Seriously? Two and a half hours of meetings tomorrow, the week before winter break, back to back from 10:00 to 12:30? What exactly is the Registrar smoking? (Authority, that's what. She wants all the authority over the course surveys, while giving me all the responsibility for distributing them. And she wants everybody to use the combined academic calendar, which is pretty much useless.) And now I have a headache.
Remembering the Good Things, though, I have two cats, instead of one cat and one hyperactive cat skeleton with fur on it. And it's very nice when I wake up in the middle of the night and find both of them asleep on the bed.
And I finally broke down and bought Fire and Blood, which I had been debating about for a couple of weeks, and it's a quick read so I got halfway through it between Saturday afternoon and Sunday night.
I haven't started the Vietnam War book yet, because I suspect that won't be a quick read and I want some time for it. Next week.
And, all things considered, I have my health and food and shelter and clothing and companionship and I can afford an expensive hobby, so what I complain about is really all first-world problems.
