Last night I dreamed that I had a pet panther, which I really didn't want, but I was the only person it would listen to, so I had to admit to owning it. Sometimes it was an albino panther, and sometimes it was black. I have somewhat of an idea what it meant, but I'm not sure what exactly it referred to. I do know why it was a panther as opposed to anything else, though. One of the last thoughts I remember having before I fell asleep last night was a poem by Ogden Nash: "When called by a pather,/Don't anther." My brain seems to have taken that thought and run with it.

Today being a nice day, and today also being the day I got my Massachusetts tax refund, I went out and bought a DVD player that works. I got my exercise in the process, too, because Walmart is three miles away, so I had a nice six-mile walk. It's a novelty to be able to watch movies in more than 20-minute chunks on the TV, and it's nice to be able to watch them continuously on a screen bigger than 14", which is the size of my laptop screen.

I've still got too much reading to do, but I did a fair bit of it this morning. Tomorrow I can probably get it finished when I'm not making lasagna.

Speaking of food, marinating mediocre strawberries in balsamic vinegar and a little sugar makes them taste a lot better. (Yes, I know, I've reinvented the wheel again.)

I applied for an on-campus summer job planting flowers and pulling weeds and such. 40 hours a week at $6.50 an hour. At least it's money, and even if it does start at 7:30 AM every day, it ends at 3:30, so I can still have time to enjoy the summer a bit. Fresh air and exercise are supposed to be good for me, besides. We shall see.
