misdirected energy
Dec. 10th, 2007 01:44 pmI seem to have been bitten, finally, by the organizing bug. Suddenly I want to sort things out and go through the file boxes I haven't opened in several years and throw out all the expired spices in the pantry and hang up pictures and clear off all the horizontal surfaces and clean everything in sight, and then cook most of the contents of the freezer. Unfortunately, having to go to work all week puts something of a damper on that.
What I don't want to do, but still have to, is go grocery shopping. It's not the grocery shopping I mind so much; it's the getting home from grocery shopping. Lesson learned this morning: if it looks wet, it's ice, and don't try to walk on wet ice. Somehow I don't think being encumbered with a case of seltzer and a glass lasagna pan and various other heavy things would make the situation any better. Maybe what I need is ice-climbing gear.
For future reference, mediocre vegetarian sushi is worse than no sushi at all. I didn't think it was possible to make avocado and cucumber maki mediocre, but apparently it is.
