dchenes: (katana)
Poor Lily. She needs two and a half teeth pulled (the half is a tooth that already fell out, but some of the root may still be there) and two others cleaned. And the reason we know this is because I snuck up on her this morning, decanted her into the small carrier, and walked her down to the vet for pre-op bloodwork and physical exam. Which took all of ten minutes and cost me $400; I shudder to think what the bill's going to be for the actual extractions. But I got my 40 minutes of walking done already, and at least I wasn't the one on the receiving end of the nephrology. Assuming nothing really awful comes up in the bloodwork, Lily gets dropped off at the vet again on my way to work on Friday morning. Assuming nothing really awful happens with the anesthesia, I pick her up minus a couple of teeth and some various patches of fuzz in the afternoon, and proceed to commence with the antibiotics and pain meds.

I decided to walk because I wanted to see if Lily was any happier that way than she tends to be in anything with an engine. Nope. I got the same amount of lecture I usually get, so I guess it's the "stuck in a carrier and taken elsewhere" bit she doesn't like. And I don't blame her. But I like walking better than driving as a general rule, and after carrying groceries twice that far, the small carrier and one 9-lb cat is easy(ish).

When we got home and I let her out, I gave her some cheese popcorn fragments for want of provolone, and she was mostly speaking to me again after that. She'll probably have forgiven me by dinnertime. She's good like that. After Friday, it might take some heavier artillery.

Came home to the following (translated from the feline):

Lily: MOM! What happened? Snip doesn't LIKE me any more! I don't understand! And I'm hungry!

Snip: That is NOT Lily, that is a POD PERSON! She smelled funny when she came back! I want nothing to do with her! This is all your fault! And I'm hungry!

Feeding of cats ensued, and Snip stopped hissing, and both cats are now asleep in separate rooms. Friday night is going to be very something or other.
