Sep. 7th, 2018 09:49 amLily waited until I got home and THEN used the litterbox with the special litter in it. But since there wasn't enough special litter, the sample got regular-litter dust in it, so now I do need the 2-lb bag, and hopefully we'll get a good sample on Monday. Never EVER make plans with cats in them.
Last night I had the second scuba classroom session, and passed the written exam (multiple choice, needed an 80 and got an 88). Everything I got wrong, I had narrowed down to two possible answers and guessed the wrong one. And everything I got wrong wasn't life-threatening. Diffusion, absorption, what's the difference, it just means everything red looks blue in deep water. Anyway, now all that's standing between me and certification is five pool sessions (or however many it takes, me being me) and the open water dives. And I ordered my actual boots last night, so I can stop worrying about that.
Last night was the "doom and gloom" class session, in which we learned about such cheerful things as arterial gas embolisms and the bends and nitrogen narcosis (in decreasing order of severity). But all of those things are easily preventable as long as you don't do three or four stupid things one after the other. We also learned about all the cool stuff we can do through the dive shop when we're certified, and some of it is really cool. Weekend dives every Sunday, scalloping dives (how much meat do you get from 15 lb of in-shell scallops? Never mind, I love scallops and I want to do that!), diving on the Patriot wreck in Gloucester (which is on the Stellwagen Bank so sometimes you get to dive with whales), U853 in Rhode Island, etc.
Whatever was in the taboule and chicken I got from the Zaakia food truck on Wednesday night, it didn't agree with me at all. It hit me after rehearsal and I had to get off the 86 because I thought I was going to throw up on somebody. I didn't, but I had to walk back to the 66 at Western Ave and then not throw up on somebody on that, and THEN not throw up on somebody on the T. I did finally throw up when I got home, and then spent yesterday at home under the Daycare Rule. I felt completely fine after lunchtime yesterday, fortunately.
And then this morning a tow truck showed up at 5:30 to remove an SUV from across the street, and woke me up, and I realized I had a thundering headache. Three Advil started denting it at 7:15 and coffee finished it off. Thank goodness, because it was one of those "don't change the angle or the altitude of your head or you'll be sorry" sinus headaches. I think it's because the air is finally breathable, after being HUMID for the last week or so.
Two-factor authentication for logins is probably a good idea, but the fact that it requires two devices annoys me. I don't want to have to haul out my phone to look up journal articles through the library on my computer. And we used to be able to click a "remember me for 30 days" box, which is still there but now appears to be unclickable.
